Description:
As a Wheels of Hope driver, you will be responsible for:
• Please be aware of the commitment- Half to full days 3-4 times a month. Wheels of Hope schedules run Monday to Friday mostly 8am-6pm (on occasion drives may start earlier and end later) (no weekend and evening shifts) This ongoing role requires volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months.
• Supporting client rides to and from treatment and cancer related appointment in this town and surrounding areas
• Responding to requests for client rides from the Transportation Specialist, ideally via email, and wherever possible being flexible with your schedule as busy days/times/periods change.
• Confirm travel arrangements with client(s) by phone.
• Offer minimal assistance to get clients in and out of the car (no lifting permitted).

CCS’s Wheels of Hope program helps people who can’t get to their cancer treatment appointments, providing trips when people need us most. Wheels of Hope drivers not only provide a means for clients to get to their critical cancer treatments, but offer a safe, supportive ride along the way. You’ll become an important part of each client’s support team, so your familiarity with Society programs and services and referring to them as appropriate will ensure everyone has access to the supports they need.

Our Investment:
As an organization we will provide you with training and support to prepare you for this important role. You will be supported by the Transportation Specialist, who will be providing your driving schedule and be there to help you throughout your time on the road. You will be part of the larger Wheels of Hope team, including over 1600 volunteer drivers and many staff who share your desire to help as many people as possible get to their treatments.

Your commitment:
This is an important leadership role.
• We ask that you dedicate at minimum 3-4 half day or full days monthly. 1/2 days will involve local community drives. Full Days will involve drives outside your community to the nearest cancer treatment center. This ongoing role requires volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months.

Measures that should be taken are as follows; Stay home and do not attend your in-person volunteer shift if you are feeling ill, COVID-19 related or otherwise; If you test positive for COVID-19, please do not attend your in-person volunteer shift(s) for 5 days. If a health care professional has suggested more isolation time, listen to their advice and let your CCS staff partner know. As a Community Inclusion Worker, you will assist a person who requests support to participate in personal, social, vocational, and volunteer opportunities within the community. The services are determined by the person and based on their specific goals and preferences. You’ll encourage and empower the person to be independent and self-determining and to live the life they envision while maintaining excellent standards of care, health, and safety. Your natural ability to care for others and work collaboratively towards a goal will allow you to influence your person’s success.

Core Responsibilities
Ensure the supported person’s rights and choices are respected and advocated as needed
Interact effectively with people we support
Empower the person we support to be full citizens of their community
Coordinate, implement, and facilitate the person’s participation in community-based social, vocational and volunteer activities
Foster positive relationships with person’s family members, professionals, co-workers, and members of the community
Participate in the development, implementation, and documentation of the Individual Service Plan
Record the daily activity and personal health information (PHI) of the person we support on our case management database
Excellent understanding of behaviour management principles and strategies including mental health needs
Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 education
Community Support Worker Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience in community social services/health care
Current Emergency First Aid/CPR and Food Safe certificates
Behavior management training
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal & written) with team members, professionals, families, and community members
Non-verbal communication skills
Valid BC Driver’s License
Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract & reliable vehicle with $2,000,000 third-party liability insurance

Kwa'lilas Hotel is seeking a Pub chef to join our team in scenic, Port Hardy B.C. The Kwa’lilas Hotel is located in the traditional territories of the Kwakiutl people. Meaning “a place to sleep”, the “Kwa’lilas” hotel was named by the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw elders in hopes that guests may find peaceful rest after a day of exploration on North Vancouver Island.

The Nax’id’ Pub Chef will assist in the preparation and supervising of all food production for Nax’id' Pub and any banquets and events in Kwa'lilas Hotel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Consistently maintains and checks standards for quality, cost, eye appeal, and flavor
• Assume responsibility for quality of products served
• Consistently follows standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.

We are seeking a professional and compassionate Laser Technician to join our team. Our laser treatments involve the gentle application of therapeutic laser energy to affected areas of the body. The goal of laser therapy is to generate a photochemical response in damaged or dysfunctional tissue, helping to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and accelerate recovery from both acute and chronic conditions.

During sessions, technicians may engage in light conversation with clients if welcomed, while always respecting the client’s comfort and boundaries in this intimate, therapeutic setting.
