Strathcona Regional District has an opening for a part-time Skate Patrol/Instructor for the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex. The Skate Patrol/Instructor is responsible for: providing safe skating sessions to the public by informing patrons of the rules/policies that ensure a fun and safe skating experience. Other responsibilities include: • Distributing and sharpening skates • Assisting patrons with equipment or skating difficulties • Answering questions • Administering first aid • Teaching skating, hockey, and private lessons • checking for receipt of payment • Assisting with special events • Maintaining records • Completing general housekeeping around public skating areas and skate-shop
Qualifications & Experience
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Completion of Grade 10 • Must be at least 16 years of age • Previous hockey or figure skating experience REQUIRED LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES • Standard First Aid and CPR “C” Certificate Successful candidates must complete a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search and become a member of the United Steelworkers, Local 1-1937.

This job does entail physical work, and lifting of over 20 lbs. It requires a person with a good eye and ear who is detailed oriented. You will be responsible for opening and closing the shop, so having cash out experience would be beneficial, we will however, train the right person. The job is part time and seasonal. It does require some weekends and evenings. The hours will vary.
