Administrative persons perform clerical and/or bookkeeping functions in the store. The Administrative Person will work with both the Receiver and the Bookkeeper to create purchase orders, receive stock into the POS system, and perform junior bookkeeping tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: preparing deposits, taking payments, bookkeeping data entry tasks as assigned. They may also work on the sales floor and/or relieve cashiers as needed. Administrative persons must perform all functions assigned to them with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service. The Administrative Person will work closely with the Owner-Dealer, the Bookkeeper and the Receiver as part of the Office Team. We are willing to train the right person.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Maintain current records on accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
-Provide customers with accurate account balance statements in a timely manner.
-Maintain sales records by transferring daily transaction reports and entering them into the store’s financial records.
-Prepare monthly inventory and cycle counting in conjunction with senior staff.
-Data entry of daily records, and invoices.
-Working with the Receiver, check all invoices for accuracy against purchase orders and/or receiving reports.
-Orders supplies, including forms, stationary, register tape, etc., in a timely manner.
-Prepare information for data entry in accordance with company policy.
-Answer telephone calls.
-Telephone suppliers, other employers, customers, government offices, etc. as necessary.
-Provide for security and respect the confidentiality of all documents so that only authorized personnel may view the documents.
-Relieve cashiers and/or counter personnel when necessary.
-Assist on the sales floor if necessary.
-Make announcements over the public address system.
-Participate in meetings, training sessions, conferences, etc. whenever possible.
-Process daily mail.
-Operate electronic ordering equipment, computer, copier, fax machine, and other office equipment.
-Work on special projects as assigned by management, after determining their priority in relation to your other duties.
-Maintain professional confidentiality of all store and customer records.
-Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.
-Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected
Reports directly to the Bookkeeper, Receiver, Manager, and Dealer-Owner(s).
Qualifications & Experience

-Ability to operate office equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks efficiently and safely, including a computer, fax machine, copier, and point-of-sale (POS) system.

Job Description:

Important Information:
Employee will work 5 days a week, from 5 pm to 1 am. Position requires flexibility in schedule since some morning and afternoon shifts will be needed depending on the business’s needs. Position requires extended work hours. Overtime will be required. The employee will have 30 minutes for lunchtime (unpaid) and 2 healthy breaks of 15 minutes each (unpaid)

THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking Nursery Labourers to join our Saanich Forestry Centre in Saanichton, BC. On the job training provided!
• Length of contract: 8 months (Nov – June) with possible extension
• Shifts: 7:30am - 4:30pm (Mon-Thurs) and 7:30am-1:00pm (Fri); we are ideally looking to hire for full time, but part time shifts may be available
• Starting wage: $19.85 plus performance-based incentives
What You’ll Do:
You’ll be a key team member at our Saanich Forest Centre where we grow millions of tree seedlings every year to be planted at our operations on the Coast. You will work as part of a team to maintain our nursery green houses, handling tasks such as quality grading, packaging seedlings and performing a variety of other tasks relevant to green house maintenance. As needed, you’ll also support the Orchard, which will require outdoor work such as pruning, pollen management and weeding or mulching.
Who You Are:
You are an advocate for sustainable practices and stand firm on safety practices. You are capable to lift up to 23 kg (50 lb) unaided and can sustain repetitive and physical tasks for 8 hours in all weather! No experience is needed for this role as we are willing to train candidates who have a positive attitude and are eager to learn.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Working in a team environment to extract seedlings from green houses;
• Handling, quality grading and packaging of seedlings;
• Lifting and carrying of full seedlings boxes for transport;
• Green house end-of-season clean-up;
• Prepping and sowing (planting) of seeds;
• Bending and lifting of blocks of growing seedlings;
• Thinning extra seedlings out of growing blocks;
• Green house maintenance;
• Planting, mulching and otherwise caring for trees;
• Hand weeding; and
• Harvesting vegetative material with hand clippers.

The facility on East Saanich Road features seed orchards and a forest-seedling nursery; it produces on average 15 million seeds and 4 million seedlings annually. -General Cleaning: Dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors, and wiping down all surfaces in all rooms (kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas).
-Kitchen Care: Cleaning sinks, countertops, appliances (exterior and interior of microwave/stove as needed), and putting away clean dishes
-Bathroom Care: Thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing toilets, showers, tubs, sinks, and mirrors.
-Deep Cleaning: Performing periodic deep cleaning tasks, such as cleaning baseboards, interior windows, and polishing furniture.
-Organization: Light tidying and organizing of common areas
-Supplies: Managing and notifying the employer when cleaning supplies need to be restocked.
