Keep the Landing Moving Newcastle Timber is looking for a reliable Chaser to join our grapple yarding crew in the Sayward Valley. You’ll be the “eyes and ears” on the landing, working in sync with our Yarder Operator and Hooktender to keep production flowing safely. If you’re a hard worker who knows their way around a landing and takes safety seriously, we’ve got a spot for you.
The Role:
This is a fast-paced position that requires constant communication and a proactive attitude. Your main responsibilities will include:
• Managing the Landing: Safely unhooking logs from the grapple and ensuring the landing stays clear for the loader.
• Branding & Quality: Correctly branding logs and bucking to spec when required.
• Maintenance & Support: Helping the crew with rigging changes, fueling, and keeping the equipment in top shape.
• Safety Coordination: Using radio communication to coordinate with the operator and ensuring the work area is secure.

What You’ll Do:
The Operational GIS Technician is an entry to general-level GIS position. The GIS Technician is frequently called upon to support Timberlands groups and, to a lesser degree, the Inventory & Analysts in operational and strategic planning requirements. The Operational GIS Technician supports planning and reporting by loading and maintaining spatial data sets, producing error free map products and other visualizations to support the business objectives. A major focus of this one-year contract position will be the development of an online Métis-focused curriculum and related learning resources that reflect community knowledge, history, and perspectives.
This role will lead educational projects, create accessible and engaging curriculum materials, and represent NIMA within Indigenous Education Councils and regional education discussions. Acting as NIMA’s designated education representative within these spaces, the Education & Curriculum Lead will work directly with Indigenous Education administrators, educators, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners to help ensure that NIMA’s educational work is culturally accurate, meaningful, and responsive to community priorities.
In addition to curriculum development, the position will contribute to presentations, information packages, and educational resources that support NIMA’s broader education initiatives. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator who brings strong teaching knowledge, cultural awareness, and the ability to translate complex information into practical learning tools for both community and education partners.
This is a full-time, one-year contract position. Starting salary is $70,000 annually, with consideration given to education, classroom teaching experience, and curriculum leadership. Compensation reflects the level of responsibility of an experienced educator and will consider classroom teaching experience, curriculum leadership, and related qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
