Key Accountabilities •Provide technical safety and health support and information to milling, mining and maintenance departments. •Implement written safety and health programs and policies. •Support the maintenance of OHSAS 18001 system and update Safety Management System where and when applicable. •Identify company safety training needs, develop and coordinate safety training programs in conjunction with the training department. •Develop annual company safety and health goals/objectives. •Participate in existing and new process reviews, including hazard identification risk assessment (HIRA), operator training, etc. •Support corporate and engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards. •Support mine personnel in selecting appropriate personal protective equipment. •Maintain corporate and local safety libraries (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals). •Promote safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters and specific training programs. •Assist in the implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports. •Review process-operating procedures/records and provide input for safety and health considerations. •Understand federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitor regulatory changes as they occur. •Provide technical support to corporate and mine personnel to ensure compliance with the BC Health Safety and Reclamation Code, NIOSH, etc. •Advise mine site staff of regulatory changes with which the mine must comply. Sufficient advance notice should be provided so that compliance with the effective date of new regulations is ensured. •Audit practices and records of mine to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations. •Manage injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follow up as necessary. •Assist with environmental sampling. Schedule: •10-hour shifts •Day shifts •4 days on, x 3 days off - including weekend days The purpose of this role is to assist the Site General Manager to implement and operate integrated management systems and site-specific standards, policies and procedures in relation to Health and Safety. The HSEC Coordinator H&S Lead is also responsible for the implementation of initiatives and programs for continual improvement. Please note: the incumbent of this position is subject to recall after hours in the event of emergencies, disasters or in cases of other special needs as directed by management.
