Horticulturists/Lead Gardener is responsible for overseeing day-to-day garden maintenance and installation work while leading a small crew on residential and commercial properties. This role combines horticultural knowledge with hands-on work, leadership and client interaction. The Lead Gardener ensures work is completed to a high standard, on schedule and in line with company values and safety practices. This job is looking for a sub contractor Duties: · Lead and work alongside a gardening crew on daily job sites · Perform hands-on garden maintenance including weeding, pruning, planting, mulching, and hedge trimming · Ensure proper horticultural practices are followed (plant care, pruning techniques, seasonal timing) · Assign tasks, set the pace for the crew and · Perform hands-on garden maintenance including weeding, pruning, planting ,mulching and hedge trimming · Ensure proper horticultural practices are followed (plant care, pruning techniques, seasonal timing) · Assign tasks, set the pace for the crew and maintain productivity · Conduct quality control and final walk-throughs of completed work · Communicate professionally with clients regarding scope of work, site conditions and recommendations · Identify plant health issues, maintenance needs or improvement opportunities · Ensure tools, equipment and job sites are kept clean, safe and organized · Train, support and mentor junior gardeners · Follow and enforce company safety standards and procedures
Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications: · 2+ years of professional gardening or landscaping experience (leadership experience preferred) · Strong knowledge of plant care, pruning and seasonal garden maintenance · Ability to lead by example and work physically alongside the team · Good communication and problem-solving skills · Reliable, punctual and detail-oriented · Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions · Ability to lift, bend, kneel and perform physical labor throughout the day · Valid driver's license and ability to drive a manual vehicle with a small trailer Ideal Candidate Traits: · Takes pride in high-quality work and well-maintained gardens · Calm, organized, and confident leading others · Takes pride in high-quality work and well-maintained gardens · Calm, organized, and confident leading others · Client-focused and respectful on job sites · Interested in growing with the company and taking on more responsibility · Positive attitude and strong work ethic If you think you've got the right attitude and the skills required for this role, we encourage you to apply.
