Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and reliable Welder / Metal Fabricator to join our team in Gold River, BC. Daily crew bus transportation is provided leaving from Campbell River, allowing for a convenient drive-in and drive-out commute every day.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, follows strict safety rules, and can build or repair quality metal products from scratch. Proficiency with carbon arc gouging is required for weld removal, defect repair, and joint preparation. Applicants must be adaptable, as shift schedules and hours may vary based on operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
Operate welding equipment using GMAW (MIG) and SMAW (Stick) processes.
Perform carbon arc gouging (CAC-A) efficiently to remove old welds, gouge out defects, and prepare joints for re-welding.
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols.
Cut and shape metal using saws, torches, and plasma cutters.
Inspect finished work to ensure it meets high quality and strength standards.
Maintain tools and keep a clean, safe work area.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience, including specific experience with carbon arc gouging.
Certification: Welder ticket or Red Seal certification is a strong asset, but experienced apprentices are also welcome to apply.
Flexibility: Ability to work a varying shift schedule as required.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long shifts.
Safety First: Strict commitment to safety, especially regarding the high noise, sparks, and fume ventilation required for air carbon arc gouging.
Reliability: Punctual for the daily crew bus departure from Campbell River, strong work ethic, and ability to work well with a team.
