Kidscove Childcare is looking for a reliable, energetic person to join our school-age childcare team in Campbell River. This is a permanent, part-time position working with a consistent group of school-aged children before and after school. If you enjoy working with kids, like being active and outdoors, and want a consistent Monday–Friday schedule with no evenings or weekends, this could be a great fit. SCHEDULE Monday–Friday 7:00–9:00 AM and 2:00–5:30 PM Approximately 27.5 hours per week during the school year. This is a split-shift position, leaving the middle of your day free for appointments, errands, school, the gym or other commitments. Additional daytime hours are available on Pro-D days, school breaks and during our summer program. Some flexibility with shifts and hours may be available depending on availability and team scheduling. PAY ECE: $28/hour total ($22 + $6/hour wage enhancement) ECEA / EA: $20/hour Responsible Adult: $19/hour Wages may be flexible for strong candidates based on qualifications, experience and overall fit. ABOUT THE POSITION You’ll help supervise and engage a consistent group of school-aged children in a busy, active program. Our days can be energetic and loud, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable in that environment while remaining calm, attentive and engaged. Responsibilities include: • Providing active supervision at all times, including consistently knowing where children are and what is happening throughout the group • Supervising a group of approximately 12–15 school-aged children • Multitasking while maintaining active supervision, including managing activities, responding to children, completing routine tasks and communicating with coworkers without losing awareness of the group • Leading games, activities and outdoor play • Staying actively engaged with children rather than supervising from the sidelines • Working closely with other staff to ensure the entire group is appropriately supervised • Communicating professionally with parents at drop-off and pickup • Preparing and cleaning up snacks and activities • Completing daily cleaning and sanitizing, including tables, program areas, toys and equipment • Keeping toys, supplies and program spaces clean and organized • Completing end-of-day cleaning and program reset • Spending significant time outdoors throughout the year Active supervision is one of the most important parts of this position. You need to be able to talk with a child, clean a table, help with an activity or communicate with another staff member while still remaining aware of the children and what is happening around you. Cleaning is also a regular part of the position. Our staff are responsible for the routine cleaning, sanitizing and toy cleaning required to keep our childcare space clean, safe and organized. Qualifications & Experience
We’re looking for a reliable, energetic and engaged person who genuinely enjoys working with school-aged children. Reliability and punctuality are extremely important to us. The right candidate must be able to consistently show up on time, be fully engaged during their shift and be someone their team can count on. The ideal candidate will be: • Dependable and punctual • Able to reliably commit to a Monday–Friday split-shift schedule • Positive, friendly and confident with children • Able to provide active supervision at all times • Able to multitask without compromising supervision or awareness of the group • Comfortable working in a busy, active and sometimes loud environment • Able to remain calm and attentive when several things are happening at once • Active and comfortable spending significant time outdoors in all seasons • Able to take initiative and notice what needs to be done without constantly being directed • Comfortable with cleaning and understands that maintaining the childcare environment is part of the job • Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team • Attentive, safety-focused and aware of their surroundings • Interested in a stable, long-term position Experience working with children in childcare, schools, recreation programs, camps, coaching or similar environments is preferred. Applicants must have, or be willing and eligible to obtain: • ECE, ECEA, EA or Responsible Adult qualification • Valid First Aid/CPR • Clear Criminal Record Check Don’t currently have an ECE, ECEA or Responsible Adult qualification? You may still qualify. If you have experience working with children and are willing to complete the Responsible Adult requirements, we’d still like to hear from you. The required course is approximately 20 hours and can usually be completed fairly quickly. We can help guide the right candidate through the process. Candidates must currently reside in Campbell River or be able to reliably commute to Campbell River for all scheduled shifts
