CLAY-NOR Lawn & Garden is looking for a Landscape Associate to join our growing team. The successful applicant will work on a variety of landscape maintenance, lawn care, irrigation, and property improvement projects throughout Campbell River and the Courtenay-Comox Valley. Our crews dispatch from Campbell River. We are looking for someone interested in consistent, long-term employment who takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a professional and growing landscape company. This is a year-round position, with the exception of an extended Christmas/winter break, which typically runs from approximately mid-December until early February. $30.00–$40.00 per hour, , depending on the candidate's actual experience, knowledge and capabilities. Please note that this is not an entry-level position; we are specifically seeking experienced landscape professionals with 1 to 2 years of verifiable, professional employment experience with a dedicated landscaping or grounds-maintenance company. Casual residential work, helping family or neighbors, and general outdoor labor do not qualify. Depending on the candidate's background, qualifying experience could include: Landscape Installation - Plant identification and basic plant knowledge - Proper planting techniques - Soil preparation and grading - Retaining wall installation - Basic irrigation knowledge - Understanding how a professional landscape jobsite operates - Proper use of landscape tools and equipment Landscape Maintenance - Professional commercial/residential lawn mowing - Proper mower setup and operation - Precision lawn edging - Line trimming - Garden and property cleanup - Shrub and hedge maintenance - Basic plant identification — for example, being able to distinguish an Emerald cedar from a Leyland cypress Professional Garden Maintenance - Identifying weeds versus desirable plants - Hand-weeding garden beds - Weeding gravel areas, river-rock beds, driveways and similar landscape areas - Professional garden-edge carving - Creating clean, measured and consistent garden edges rather than simply free-handing them - Understanding appropriate tools and methods for different garden and landscape conditions
Qualifications & Experience
• Previous landscaping, lawn care, irrigation, or related outdoor work experience is an asset. • Must be dependable, physically capable of performing landscape work, and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team. • Valid driver's licence and relevant industry experience are considered assets. • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada. For this position, we are currently considering Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
