Summerside Express is a specialized summer program designed for neurodiverse children and youth. School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The district out-of-school care program has 144 childcare spaces between six locations. We provide childcare for children in kindergarten and up to grade five. The district respects and values the relationships with all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples who reside in these territories. About the Role: Specific Responsibilities ·Implement activities for summer in accordance with daily schedules and program objectives. ·Guide and assist participants in daily activities while fostering and encouraging positive social interactions among participants. ·Establish positive relationships with participants, staff, community partners, families. ·Ensure all accidents/incidents are recorded and reported in a timely manner. ·Ensure confidentiality of privileged information. ·Adhere to policies and procedures, including safety requirements and emergency preparedness. ·Reenforce reasonable behaviour expectations consistent with program objectives. ·May prepare or facilitate snack time for the participants. ·Assist in general housekeeping requirements. ·Understand and act in accordance with relevant policies and procedures from the School District, Ministry of Education, and WorkSafeBC. ·Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience
Bring your Expertise: ·Completion of grade 12 diploma and currently enrolled in post secondary program (or recent graduate). ·Responsible Adult Course would be considered an asset. ·A valid Emergency First Aid–Community Care certificate is an asset
