Qualifications & Experience
Production Drill Operator - Contract, Gahcho Kué Mine, Gahcho Kué Mine, Canada Job Description De Beers Group of Companies has an exciting opportunity for strong and committed individual to join the Mine Operations Department that will include vacation entitlement, benefits and bonus opportunity at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor and working a two (2) week in / two (2) week out rotation, this position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of large rotary or percussion/hammer drills. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm. This is a contract position with an end date of February 2027, with the possibility of extension. Key responsibilities: Operates drill equipment according to company procedures and standards; Reads drill pattern instructions or diagrams; Measures drill holes and inspecting drill pattern; Operates a variety of drilling machines to bore blast holes to specified depths at stake positions; Conducts daily safety checks and inspections of the equipment before operating; and Monitors equipment and reports any deficiencies according to proper mine operating procedures. Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, the role is based in the Mine Operations department. This is a site-based position with a 14 days in/14 days out rotation. Qualifications Experience in the operation and maintenance of production drilling machines (5+ years); Experience operating large rotary drills and hammer/percussion drills; Ability to safely work day and night shifts on a rotational basis; Strong communication skills both verbal and written; Legally permitted to work in Canada; Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards; and Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment. Desirable Assets: Heavy equipment certificate; Experience with Epiroc Pit Viper and drill models PV271, D65, DX800; and Experience in mining industry, preferably with open pit operations.
