Millwright - Port Hardy Processing Plant

Our Port Hardy Processing Plant is the most technologically advanced fresh salmon processing facility in British Columbia.

We are currently seeking a Millwright to join our team at the Port Hardy Processing Plant. This is a full-time, year-round position, primarily scheduled on day shift; however, other shifts may be required to meet operational requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Repair, troubleshoot, and install machinery, including salmon processing, ice-making, ice delivery, and packaging equipment (experience with automated equipment is an asset).
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, electrical code specifications, and
schematics to effectively troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment.
• Optimize equipment performance safely, efficiently, and reliably by participating in continuous improvement initiatives and completing work orders according to preventative maintenance (PM) schedules.
• Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of high-speed packaging and processing equipment.
• Support and maintain wastewater systems (experience considered an asset).
• Work on other maintenance or improvement projects as required.
• Collaborate with other trades and, at times, contractors in a flexible, team-based environment to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Assist operations in the safe and efficient operation of processing equipment.

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications:
• Red Seal Certification as an Industrical Mechanic (Millwright) is required (4th-year apprentices may be considered).
• Working knowledge of WorkSafe BC and Technical Safety BC regulations, codes, and standards.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to plan, install, commission, and maintain new equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, manuals, and mechanical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with electrical installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Good working knowledge of current electrical standards and regulations.
• Experience with PLCs, pumps, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Ability to read mechanical and piping schematics.
• Experience with networking and strong computer skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment, preferably within the food industry, is considered an asset.
