Warehouse Person Hourly - Probationary Campbell River, BC, CA Salary:$38.30 Hourly THE OPPORTUNITY La-kwa sa muqw Forestry (LKSM), is seeking an experienced Warehouse Person to join our team in Menzies Bay, BC. This position offers the chance to contribute to a progressive organization committed to responsible forest management, with strong values in safety and sustainability. What We Offer: • United Steel Worker (USW) union wage rate of $38.30 • Health & Dental Benefits provided through the union • Pension plan provided through the union • A safe work environment Shifts: This position is currently on a 5x2 Day shift, 5 days on and 2 days off, 8 hours per day. This role is considered safety sensitive; all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test. RESPONSIBILITIES • Working closely with the Superintendent, Maintenance, the Warehouse Person is responsible for supporting overall coordination of inventory and supplies within the operation, ensuring all supplies are received for the operations. • Ensures vendors are wearing appropriate PPE and that they have current and up to date safety training. • Coordinate purchase requests and issue purchase orders to vendors; • Generate requisitions and coordinate approvals; • Track and communicate the delivery of ordered parts and materials; • Receive all inbound deliveries; • Organize parts and materials – assign to specific locations, bins, shelves, etc; • Assist in the design and build of storage locations using specific warehouse layout considerations; • Help establishing warehouse rules and bet practices (all parts have a PO, work order, track all shipped parts, etc.); • Assist in acquiring parts for the maintenance crews to ensure parts are readily available; • Quarterly inventory counts; • Receive all inbound deliveries and confirm order accuracy; • Provide excellent customer service to the end users of inventory and supplies within operations; • Completes first aid equipment inspections as required; and, • Assists with radio checks and other administrative duties as assigned. LA-KWA SA MUQW OVERVIEW La-kwa sa muqw Forestry LP (LKSM) is an innovative forestry partnership jointly owned by Tlowitsis, We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum and K’ómoks First Nations, and Western Forest Products Inc. LKSM is dedicated to expanding economic opportunities, and meaningful participation of Indigenous communities in British Columbia’s forestry sector. The name for the Partnership, La-kwa sa muqw Forestry (pronounced la-KWAH-sa-mook) means ‘the wood of four’ in the Kwak̓wala language. The operations of the Partnership cover approximately 157,000 hectares of forest land in the traditional territories of the Nations near the communities of Campbell River and Sayward on eastern Vancouver Island. The Partnership manages an allowable annual cut of 904,540 cubic metres of timber and includes a long-term fibre agreement to support Western’s British Columbia coastal manufacturing operations. The partnership maintains industry-leading safety standards and is proudly certified under the CAN/CSA Z809-16 Sustainable Forest Management Standard.
Qualifications & Experience
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an inventory/purchasing role; • Warehouse certification is preferred; • Safe Material Handling Certifications; • All applicants must have a valid BC driver’s license and be able to provide a driver's abstract; • A valid Advanced First Aid certificate is required; and, • Must be willing to obtain and retain a forklift and hiab ticket. Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies • Working knowledge and experience with warehousing inventory; • Knowledge of computerized supply management systems (Tab Ware, preferably); • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Inventory control systems would be an asset; • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic; • Accountable and dependable.
