Centennial Outdoor Pool – Summer Employment

you looking to expand your knowledge of pool operations? Then work for the City of Campbell River at our outdoor
pool as an auxiliary Lifeguard for the summer season.
Naturally, Campbell River – Located on Vancouver Island, the City of Campbell River offers a rare combination of a welcoming small-town feel with large-city amenities. We are a 45-minute drive from the winter and summer activities of Mount Washington, and just minutes from more than 100 km of all levels of mountain biking and hiking trails, plus easy access to the ocean, rivers and lakes for sports fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and whale watching.
The role:
In this auxiliary role, as a lifeguard you will instruct and monitor participants at the Centennial Park outdoor pool, as well as maintain the facility to ensure that everyone is safe. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and work well within a team environment. It is critical that you can respond calmly in emergency situations and recognize when lifeguard interventions are required.
What we offer:
The rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position is $27.84 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits (this is equivalent to a wage of $31.18 per hour). The successful candidate will also have access to a reduced cost Employee Wellness Pass for Recreation facilities and programs.

Qualifications & Experience
Our ideal candidate will:
• Have one (1) year of experience as a lifeguard and/or lesson instructor or an assessable equivalent.
• Possess and maintain valid National Lifeguard (NL) certification.
• Possess and maintain valid Swim Instructor certification.
• Possess and maintain valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED certification. CPR-C/AED must be current within one year.
• Be 16 years or older as legislated by the Public Health Act, Pool Regulations.
• Must successfully attain a clean criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to employment.
