Island Health is seeking an Indigenous Liaison Nurse to support Indigenous clients and families by improving access to culturally safe health services. Work closely with care teams, community agencies, and Indigenous communities to ensure respectful, trauma-informed care and smooth transitions through the health system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between Indigenous clients, families, and care providers
- Conduct holistic assessments (physical, emotional, spiritual, mental)
- Assist with individualized care plans and discharge planning
- Provide health education, self-management support, and wellness promotion
- Advocate for culturally safe, trauma-informed care
- Share knowledge of Indigenous cultures, health beliefs, and available services
- Maintain documentation and participate in Indigenous Health initiatives
- Travel to communities as required (may include remote travel by road, boat, or plane)

Qualifications & Experience
- Current LPN registration (BCCNM)
- 2+ years nursing experience (or equivalent education & experience)
- Knowledge of Indigenous health, protocols, and cultural safety
- Strong communication, teamwork, and advocacy skills
- Understanding of colonization, Indigenous-specific racism, and their impacts
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Preference for Indigenous applicants
