Company Description: The City of Campbell River is searching for Instructor Leaders to join our Recreation and Culture Team in this short term auxiliary position. Naturally, Campbell River – Located on Vancouver Island, the City of Campbell River offers a rare combination of a welcoming small-town feel with large-city amenities. We are a 45-minute drive from the winter and summer activities of Mount Washington, and just minutes from more than 100 km of all levels of mountain biking and hiking trails, plus easy access to the ocean, rivers and lakes for sports fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and whale watching. The role: As an Instructor Leader, you will be working as part of a team, and will facilitate, lead, support and participate in a range of activities and events for young children (5 & under), children (6-11yrs) and/or youth (12-18yrs) in our summer camp programs. You will ensure the safety and care of all participants, and promote an inclusive, welcoming environment. It is a great opportunity to learn new skills. What we offer: The rate of pay for this short term auxiliary CUPE bargaining unit position is $24.97 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits (this is equivalent to a wage of $27.96 per hour). The successful candidate(s) will also have access to a reduced cost Employee Wellness Pass for Recreation facilities and programs. Season: The season for these short-term auxiliary roles typically starts in July and ends in late August working full-time hours. Qualifications & Experience
Our ideal candidate must have: • Minimum of Grade 10 • Minimum of three (3) months volunteer or work experience facilitating programs, activities and/or sports for children (5 & under), children (6-11yrs) and/or youth (12-18yrs). • Experience in a Leader-In-Training program or equivalent is considered an asset. • Possess and maintain a valid Emergency First Aid Certificate with CPR C-AED. • Ability to successfully attain a clean criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to the start of employment.
