Island Health is seeking a collaborative, visionary leader to guide Indigenous Health programs across Vancouver Island. This role provides strategic direction, strengthens relationships with Indigenous communities, advances cultural safety and anti-racism, and supports Indigenous-led approaches to health and wellness. The Director oversees regional operations, budgeting, planning, quality improvement, and partnerships aligned with UNDRIP, TRC Calls to Action, and Island Health’s commitments to reconciliation.
• Lead Indigenous Health strategy, operations, and service delivery
• Foster Indigenous self-determination, community partnerships, and culturally safe care
• Manage budgets, teams, planning, evaluation, and quality improvement
• Collaborate across Island Health to improve Indigenous patient experiences and outcomes
• Support research, education, and system-wide change
Qualifications & Experience
• Priority given to self-identified Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit) candidates.
• Master’s degree (health field or MBA)
• 7+ years senior leadership in health care
• Strong experience working with Indigenous communities
• Deep knowledge of cultural safety, UNDRIP, TRC, and Indigenous health needs
