POSITION: Community Support Worker, Community Links Program Full-time, Part-time, and casual positions available LOCATION: Port Hardy, Port McNeill, and surrounding communities HOURS: Monday- Friday, between 9am- 5pm (occasional evenings and weekends) WAGE: To be determined CLOSING DATE: Open until filled North Island Community Services – Community Links Program is proud to have been awarded 2024 Non-Profit of the Year. Summary: NICSS is looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual to provide services in our Community Links Program. These are person-centered programs, supporting and working alongside adults with diverse abilities. Our Community Links team works together to create fun and dynamic programming and services, rooted in a strengths-based approach. We offer Supported Independent Living (SIL Outreach), a Community Inclusion Day Program, and Customized Employment. We are looking for people who believe in the abilities of others and who are committed to supporting individuals to establish and reach their goals, while feeling like a part of the community where they live. The Ideal Candidate will: -Excel at developing trust-based and supportive relationships with team members, program participants, caregivers/family, and community partners. -Have post-secondary education/experience in Community Support; Youth Care; Health Care Aide; Resident Care/Home Support; Mental Health; or related education/experience supporting people with developmental disabilities. -Be experienced in Person-Centered Planning and/or strengths-based planning, or a willingness to learn. -Demonstrate flexibility with a willingness to adapt and change as individual and programming needs may evolve. This position requires one to one support, as well as group setting support. -Prove to be an effective communicator (oral, written and listening) with a strong awareness of cross-cultural practices, traditions and values. -A willingness to continue learning and growing alongside the people that we serve. -Have strong advocacy skills, patience, emotional maturity, and compassion.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications: -Valid Driver's License, clean abstract and reliable vehicle -Approved Ministry of Justice Criminal Records Check -Level 1 First Aid w/CPR (or willing to obtain prior to start date) -Food Safe Certification (or willingness to obtain)
