Details
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant plays an integral role within the Finance team. This position is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely preparation of operational, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The Junior Accountant also contributes to process consistency and drives continuous improvement across accounting practices.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post monthly depreciation entries
• Track capital expenditures budget against actual spend
• Record acquisitions and disposals of fixed assets
• Generate yearly budget and long term plan for capex and depreciation
• Prepare weekly cashflow report
• Provide monthly and year end asset reports for reconciliations and internal controls
• Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets
• Reconciliation of bank accounts
• Prepare withholding tax payments
• Support month end and year end procedures including journal entries, reconciliations and adjustments, in coordination with the finance team
• Assist in the yearly budget and long-term financial planning
• Prepare manual sales invoicing as required
• Collaborate on the set up of projects in M3
• Supports the input of sustainability data into Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
• Assist with processing of Medius invoices (invoicing system)
• Assisting external auditors during audit reviews by providing requested documentation and support
• Provide support for the consultants to prepare the filing of PST and Motor Fuel Tax returns
• Contribute to various ad hoc tasks and projects as required

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working within a finance department
• Post secondary education and/or enrolment in a recognised accounting program preferred; working toward a CPA designation is an asset
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines consistently
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
• Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Experience with Lawson M3, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), and Medius is considered an asset
• Self-motivated with strong initiative; able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Positive and proactive attitude with a strong commitment to continuous improvement
• Ability to work long hours when required and to work independently
