The District of Port Hardy invites applications for the position of Full-Time Operator I in the
Operational Services Department.
Under the direction of his/her immediate supervisor, this position is responsible for all the duties
and responsibilities of an Equipment Operator I. He/she will also be required to supervise up to
two (2) junior employees on occasion in related duties on routine maintenance tasks.
This is a Union position with a wage rate of $32.95, plus benefits as per IUOE collective
agreement 2025-2027.

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications and Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with air endorsement.
• Experience as an equipment operator, operating similar equipment in a similar position and the ability to plan and estimate work is desirable.
Abilities:
• Must be physically capable of carrying out assigned duties in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both oral and written form, in English, with other employees, supervisors, and the general public.
• Must be able to carry out courtesy and tact when dealing with employees and public.
• Must be able to work safely in accordance with Workers Compensation Board Regulations and District Policy.
