K’awat’si Construction Company is looking for a Senior Estimator to plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget, as well as prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
This is not a remote position and requires relocation to Port Hardy, located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island, BC. Port Hardy serves as a gateway to natural beauty and cultural heritage. Nestled in a region of breathtaking rainforests, rugged coastlines, and vibrant marine life, the town offers a rich tapestry of community and history.

Qualifications & Experience
Duties, Qualifications and Responsibilities:
Completion of post-secondary education with a professional degree or certification in Construction, or a diploma in Building Technology.
Approximately 10 years of experience in Estimating and Quantity Surveying in British Columbia, Canada.
Proven experience estimating projects ranging from $5 million to $100 million.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proficient in On-Screen Takeoff, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to estimate and manage both small and large construction projects from start to finish.
Skilled in setting preliminary budgets for construction management projects, refining budgets as project design progresses, tracking changes, writing trade-specific scopes of work, and performing value engineering.
Capable of managing lump-sum fixed-price projects from inception to completion, including project analysis, subcontractor procurement, schedule forecasting, site visits, and leading tender closings.
Ability to develop unit rate costing for general conditions, carpentry, concrete, formwork, and demolition/alteration work.
Experienced in estimating multiple overlapping projects efficiently.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on constructability; able to assess broader project implications and devise effective solutions to complex issues.
Proficient in using scheduling software for both preliminary and advanced project planning.
Collaborative team player with a positive, cooperative mindset.
Familiar with PlanSwift and BidConnect.
Knowledge of Procore Estimating is considered an asset.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
A Valid Driver’s Licence
5 -10 years of work experience preferred as a Senior Estimator.
Communication and interpersonal skills for clear and effective support, research, recommendations and pricing.
Strong technical writing skills.
Time management and strong prioritization skills.
Growing knowledge of alternative construction delivery methods.
