The Maritime Heritage Centre is where Campbell River’s maritime past meets present-day community life. Home to the historic BCP45 fishing vessel (yes, the one from the old $5 bill), our Centre is a working museum and a vibrant community event space—hosting everything from school programs and weddings to lectures and workshops.
We’re looking for an Operations Assistant who can jump in and keep things running smoothly—whether it’s managing the front desk, helping with events, or making sure the AV doesn’t go overboard.
What you’ll be doing:
- Comfortably take the helm of daily front desk operations and admissions
- Provide support and security for events (evenings and weekends included, sometimes with alcohol served)
- Set up tables and chairs (some physical work involved)
- Light janitorial duties when needed (we all help keep the ship tidy)
- Learn to troubleshoot our basic AV system with training
- Offer a warm welcome to visitors, school groups, and event clients
- Pitch in with whatever’s needed—this is a small crew, and we’ve all got each other’s backs
