We are currently searching for a Home Support Worker to join our well-established Better at Home team. Successful candidates will enjoy supporting seniors who are living independently and aging in place with various non-medical tasks, including light housekeeping, basic household chores, light yardwork, grocery and medication pick up, as well as friendly visiting. Transportation of clients will be required as needed. This position will be primarily based in the Port Hardy area.
This position is permanent and part time at 20 hours per week.
After a successful 3-month probation period, an excellent benefit package is also provided including extended health and dental plan, 3-week vacation, sick benefits and employer paid RRSP.
Qualifications & Experience
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
• Must be at least 19 years of age with Grade 12 Graduation.
• Experience working with older adults.
• Experience with residential cleaning and household management.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE:
• Well-developed time, planning and organizational abilities while demonstrating a high level of initiative.
• Demonstrate effective communication both verbal and written with people of a variety of ages.
• Demonstrate respect for individuals and groups with an understanding of the unique needs of seniors and elders who are aging at home.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
• A moderate level of physical fitness is required in order to complete basic household chores, including lifting, standing, bending and managing stairs.
• High degree of discretion and confidentiality.
• Must be friendly, non-judgmental and engaging with others.
