About this Role:
- Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental protocols and procedures at all times.
- You be provided training in sample collection procedures, GPS utilization and navigation,
bush navigation and safety and geology basics, among other items.
- Collect field samples and associated data in compliance with the procedures and standards
set out by the geologist.
- Handle and organize soil, rock and stream sediment samples.
- Properly store and dry samples in preparation for shipment.
- Communicate with the geologists to report progress, findings and incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, material inventory and sample packing.
- Maintain and clean equipment within the Core Logging facilities.
- Complete all other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience
What you bring to the Role:
- Previous experience as a Field Assistant or similar is considered an asset.
- First Aid training is considered an asset but will be provided where required.
- Mechanical knowledge for maintaining tools, vehicles and side by sides is considered an
asset, but not required.
- Experience working with or around helicopters is considered an asset.
- Experience driving 4x4 vehicles and side by sides on forest service roads in a variety of
conditions is considered an asset.
- Experience and training operating chainsaws is considered an asset.
- The ability to hike with a heavy backpack for up to 8 hours in a variety of conditions.
- The ability to work in rainy, wet and muddy conditions.
- The ability to be proactive in identifying and mitigating or eliminating any observed potential
hazards in the workplace.
- Previous knowledge or training in Geology is considered an asset.
- The ability to work efficiently with computers and tablets.
- Reliable transportation to and from Port Hardy on a daily basis. Transportation will be
provided from the Company’s Port Hardy office to the daily work sites.
Education and Skills:
- A high school diploma is considered an asset.
- The ability to work and communicate effectively within a team setting is an asset
- The ability to communicate in writing and orally is important.
- The ability lift and carry up to 25 kg (50 lbs) repetitively is required
- A driver’s license is considered an asset
- A strong outlook for the safety of others and yourself is required.
- The ability to work independently is required, however you will be partnered with another
team member for any trips into the field.
