The Role of a Mobile Heavy Duty Mechanic
Mobile Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Their role is critical in the Logging and transportation sector, where machinery breakdowns can lead to significant delays and financial losses.

Key Responsibilities
• Diagnostic Services: Identifying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using specialized tools and equipment.
• Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of moving parts.
• Repair Services: Fixing or replacing faulty components, such as engines, transmissions, brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Emergency Services: Providing on-site emergency repairs to minimize downtime and restore machinery functionality swiftly.
• Inspection: Conducting thorough inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and prevent future breakdowns.

Safety Measures
Safety is a critical aspect of the Heavy Duty Mechanics role. Key safety measures include:
• Equipment Inspections: Conducting thorough inspections before and after use to identify and address potential hazards.
• Use of PPE: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, and safety boots must be worn at all times.
• Adherence to Protocols: Following established safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks.
• Training and Certification: Ensuring that operators are adequately trained and certified to handle log loaders and other machinery.
• Must have Valid Class 5 drivers License
• Preference given to those with valid Intermediate First Aid certification

• Electrical and Hydraulic Systems: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Logging Equipment experience
• In particular, Madill grapple Yarders and log Loaders as well as Kenworth and Western Star Logging Trucks.

Personal Attributes
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify problems and develop effective solutions.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precise repairs and maintenance.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and explain technical issues in layman's terms.
• Physical Stamina: The physical strength and endurance to handle heavy parts and tools.

Training and Certification
Education
• High School Diploma: Basic educational requirement for entry into the field.
• Technical School: Specialized programs in heavy-duty mechanics, offering hands-on training and theoretical knowledge.
