The Sanala Culturally Supportive Housing Society’s (SCSHS) Executive Director requires strong leadership, vision, and the ability to build solid relationships with Indigenous peoples experiencing Homelessness. One of the overall objectives is to reduce and prevent homelessness while providing holistic wrap-around services.
Leadership and Strategic Direction:
• Provide visionary leadership as the Executive Director to ensure the organization’s mission and objectives are achieved.
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set strategic goals, develop organizational policies, and guide the overall direction of the organization.
• Act as the chief spokesperson for the organization, representing its mission and values to external stakeholders and the public as directed by the Board.
Operations and Management:
• Ensure effective management of advocacy efforts, programmatic initiatives, financial resources, and overall organizational operations.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies to advance the organization’s goals and enhance service delivery.
• Support with conducting research and reports to inform organizational planning and decision-making.
• Support with grant writing and reporting requirements.
Community Engagement and Outreach:
• Engage with diverse stakeholders across geographic, political, socioeconomic, and cultural boundaries to build relationships and promote collaboration.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with community groups and organizations.
• Support the development of program processes and models (i.e. assessment tools), inclusive of seven streams of wraparound support services: Indigenous Cultural; Housing; Food Security; Restorative Justice; Social, Emotional, Community; Personal Care and Living; Wellness and Substance Use.
• Work closely with BC Housing on the new housing development project to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Assist with the building and maintenance of relationships with the local community in Port Hardy including the landlords and neighbours of the supportive housing site, to foster community integration and support.
Evaluation and Adaptation:
• Continuously assess the effectiveness of organizational programs and services, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
• Stay informed about trends, developments, and best practices in the field to ensure the organization remains responsive and effective.
Representation and Advocacy:
• Represent the organization’s programs, viewpoints, and interests to agencies, organizations, and the public.
• Serve as the primary advocate for issues related to homelessness, housing, and related areas, promoting the organization's mission and values.

Qualifications & Experience
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (public/business/community planning, and/or project management).
• Required – Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Canva, and Social Media platforms.
• Experience working with Indigenous peoples and an awareness of the impacts of colonization.
• Preference given to experience with non-profits, including event coordination and community engagement.
• Preference will be given to qualified candidates with indigenous ancestry.
• Required – Valid driver’s license and a working vehicle.
