THE OPPORTUNITY
La-kwa sa muqw Forestry, a partnership between Western Forest Products and the member First Nations of the Nanwakolas Council, is currently looking for a Production Supervisor Trainee to join our La-kwa sa muqw Forest Operation in Campbell River, BC for a 4-8 month fixed term contract dependent on level of experience starting in May 2025.

What We Offer:
- Salary range of $60,000 - $75,000 based on skill level, qualifications, and experience
- 4% Vacation pay in lieu
- Retention bonus or Living Out Allowance (Dependent on level of experience and qualifications)

Work Environment:
This role is to be performed in person at our La-kwa sa muqw Forest Operation in Campbell River, BC.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in development of yarding plans, coordination and optimization of loading fiber;
- Coordination and optimization of hauling fiber;
- Assist in ensuring hourly employees’ compliance with safety, operational, and environmental policies;
- Assist in ongoing improvement of production phase metrics;
- Assist in coordinating road construction activities and supervision;
- Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:
$60,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually

Qualifications & Experience
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary degree or diploma in forestry or related program;
- 1-2 years of experience as a Forestry Co-op Student or Field Planner is a very strong asset;
- Preference will be given to candidates who come from an engineering/layout background.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies:
- Ability to adopt and encourage innovative and strategic thinking;
- Strong safety focus and hard work ethic;
- In depth forestry knowledge;
- Excellent problem solving skills to find solutions to complex problems;
- Good organizational and time-management skills;
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead by example;
- Ability to excel in a highly interactive team environment with various personalities.

Who You Are:
Our ideal candidate brings a bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related technical diploma, and has previous co-op or work experience in the forest industry. You have a general knowledge of timber harvesting processes, strong analytical skills and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
