About the role:
Hakai Energy Solutions is looking for an electrical Engineer P. Eng (permanent full-time) to become part of our team of renewable energy professionals. This individual is self-motivated, energetic, personable, and excited to work as part of a fast-growing EPC company in the solar industry. The Electrical Engineer will work alongside Hakai’s design team, and report to senior management. During the initial stages of employment, the engineer will support and mentor existing design representatives and senior employees.
Duties include but are not limited to:
-Prepare and evaluate electrical drawings and project documentation, such as plans, electrical equipment lists, electrical load lists, single line diagrams, area classification drawings, wiring diagrams, cable -schedules, panel schedules, equipment layouts, PLC control panel layouts,
-Review and approve technical drawings and equipment datasheets to meet application and regulatory requirements
-Preform power flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies for grid connected and islanded power systems (for AC and DC circuits)
-Facilitate engineering documentation control
-Oversee in-house engineering and design, mentor colleagues and junior designers in electrical design
-Commercial grid tied PV system design, which includes component selection, system design, production modelling, formation of specifications, shop, and final drawing packages.
-Conduct engineering calculations related to (grounding, power distribution, protection coordination, arc flash calculation and low/medium voltage circuits)
-Review and sealing of designs by in-house personnel
-Oversee Quality Assurance/Quality Control process for electrical drawings and design
-Work with colleagues and clients, providing engineering guidance through project development
-Ensure adherence to all health and safety requirements and COR compliance for all work activities.
