The Campbell River Better at Home program is helping seniors fight food insecurity by providing our senior clients with a couple of free meals each week. Our Prepared Meal Pilot Program has been a great success! Food insecurity comes from not being able to afford to purchase food, not having the space to prepare and cook meals as well as no longer having the ability to prepare and cook meals. Our seniors experience some or all of the food insecurity scenarios mentioned.
Each Thursday morning, Volunteer Prepared Meal Delivery Drivers pick up meals from the Better at Home office then deliver those meals on an assigned delivery route. It takes a couple of hours to pick up and deliver meals.
We reimburse mileage at .64/km.
