Western Forest Products have a new opportunity for a Division Controller, based at our Duke Point Sawmill in Nanaimo, BC.

What You’ll Do: As part of the Manufacturing Finance team, the Division Controller will make meaningful contributions to simplify, streamline, and standardize our operational management reporting. The Division Controller will be directly responsible for supporting the Manufacturing divisions in preparing the monthly financial packages, reviewing key metrics, and looking for opportunities to optimize the operations. The Division Controller will also be responsible for assisting the Group Controller, Manufacturing in delivering accurate consolidated financial statements, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses.

Who You Are: This is a great opportunity for someone with 3-5 years of experience post-designation. The ideal candidate has experience leading a team, and experience in forestry or another natural resource industry is a definite asset. You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel, have strong communication skills and an excellent eye for detail with ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.

Work Environment: This role is to be performed in person at our Duke Point Sawmill Division on Vancouver Island, B.C.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic and focused member of operations team;
Support the operations through month end including KPI tracking, Monthly Operating;
Report analysis and preparation, journal entries, and account reconciliations;
Timely preparation of financial analysis, for senior management, the Board of Directors, and others as required;
Perform analytical support for operational cost and margin improvement;
Lead and coordinate Manufacturing’s annual operating and capital planning process, quarterly forecasts, and monthly forecasting;
Consolidate operations’ monthly forecasts, quarterly forecasts, and annual plans;
Facilitate process reliability & optimization analyses;
Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures and internal controls are in place for the division;
Coach/develop/mentor junior team members and administration staff;
Maintain business knowledge and relationships through regular contact with division lead team members.

Qualifications & Experience
Education and Experience

University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or related discipline;
CPA Designation;
5+ Years’ experience in a financial and/or business services capacity;
Strong working knowledge of business systems and processes as they relate to an operation’s auditable financial statements;
Experience within the Forestry Industry considered an asset.

Good working knowledge of a manufacturing environment;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
A good working knowledge of MS Office applications particularly Excel (Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point);

Ability to work with tight deadlines and prioritize tasks;
Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including building relationships with operational employees.
