Rivercity Inclusion Society in Campbell River, Vancouver Island, BC is hiring for our brand new L.I.F.E. program! We are looking for candidates who want to make a difference with individuals by helping them increase confidence and independence, connect to the community, learn new things, build friendships and a network of natural support around them, while also pursuing employment goals.

The L.I.F.E. Service:
• Explores and creates personalized supports related to employment, community connection, relationships, and lifelong learning.
• Is offered throughout a person’s community.
• Changes over time. The number of hours, location and type of support will adjust over time based on their changing goals and needs.
• Is regularly evaluated by the person to continually improve their service experience as well as improve how the service works overall for everyone.
• Makes a difference in a person’s life by strengthening confidence and growing a network of natural support around them.

This is a BCGEU union position.
Permanent Full-Time: 37.5 hours per week. Typically, Monday-Friday, however, will involve evening and weekends (dependent on client and service support needs).
Flexibility in shifts / schedules is an ongoing requirement in this position.
Salary, T&Cs and benefits are as per General Unit Collective Agreement.
Salary $27.54 - $31.61 per hour (Grid Level 11).

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Can include but not limited to:
-The facilitation of meetings to check in on the status of goals monthly or on and as needed basis.
-Creation, implementation and evaluation of goals.
-Assisting individuals with Employment plans (resumes, job applications, interviews, job coaching, fade out plans).
-Provide job site training and work effectively with others in a wide variety of work environments.
-Participation in activities with the goal of moving towards individual independence.
-Providing support to a wide range of individuals with varying abilities and desires.
-Use of your personal vehicle daily and public transport.
-Marketing of individual skills to potential employers.
-Customizing/carving jobs based on individual and employer needs.
-Teaching skills using a variety of different learning styles (visual, audio, written).
-Connection with community resources / opportunities for individuals to continue to develop skills to independence.
-Provide access and ability to access lifelong learning opportunities within the community.
-Provide support to individuals to learn at their own pace to help develop independence.
Qualifications & Experience
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

-Graduate or certificate/diploma in human sciences or employment counselling, or a combination of education and experience.
-Knowledge of The Employment Standards Act and The Charter of Rights.
-Knowledge of persons with diverse abilities, FASD, and autism.
-Knowledge of the local labour market and employment opportunities as well as community resources within the Campbell River area.
-The ability to demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing employment and support plans.
-The ability to provide job site training and work effectively with community employers in a wide variety of work environments.
-Strong understanding of the differences in Learning, Inclusion, Friendships, Employment, and how they apply to the support provided to the individuals within the -services.
-Strong understanding in the development of natural supports for persons served.
-Understanding of user driven services and how they pertain to the individual supported.
-Knowledge of direct vs indirect supports.
-Strong ability to work independently and within a team. Self-motivation is key.
-Must be flexible based on the needs of the person served/ Employer: including regular weekend and evening work.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong organizational and PC skills.
-Employment, education and experience will be considered.

REQUIREMENTS:
Current First Aid and CPR, negative TB test results, current Criminal Record Check as per Association policy, valid Class 5 Driver’s license, and daily access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance.
