The Quatsino Early Years Centre is looking for an energetic, passionate, and experienced individual to collaborate with our daycare team as an Early Years Cook/Floater. The successful candidate must be willing to obtain their Responsible Adult within a timely manner and in accordance with the requirements of the position. This position is considered Full-Time (1.0 FTE) and requires the successful candidate to work directly and collaboration with the Early Years Coordinator, Teachers/Navigator, Supported Childcare Educator, and other professionals/paraprofessionals in the childcare field.

Hours: Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (7 hours per day and 35 hours per week).
Rate: $20.00 an hour based on qualifications and experience plus $6/hour as per the MCFD Wage Enhancement for those who qualify. (ECE Certificate is required for the enhancement)
Benefits: This position offers vacation time, Manulife Benefit Package and an ECE Wage Enhancement for those who qualify.
Key Responsibilities: Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Quatsino First Nation policies, standards, practices, and procedures as directed by the Quatsino Early Years Coordinator. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to members, clients, students, employees, and general matters of the Nation.

Prepare a menu that is nutritionally balanced.
Post weekly menus on our social media page.
Develop and maintain a positive relationship with staff, children, and volunteers.
Help with laundry, washing toys when needed.
Supervise children at the after-school program.
Schedules play time and activities for the After School Program.
Operate effectively in the kitchen setting by sanitizing the counters, fridge and other important areas daily.
Work within a limited budget.
Keep the floor swept and clean.
Complete weekly shops and hand in receipts to the supervisor.

Provide a variety of new food experiences for the children while meeting the Canadian Nutrition Standards.
Keeping record of the Emergency Cards, photos, and the First Aid bag up to date.
He or she will be required to follow any other instructions and perform other duties requested by his or her supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:

Food Safe (up to date)
WHMIS (willing to obtain)
Responsible Adult (willing to obtain)
First Aid (willing to obtain)

Unusual physical requirements or restrictions:
Most of the work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than 40lbs.
