Aquatrans Distributors Inc. requires an experienced class one driver for Vancouver Island work, based out of Port Hardy, BC.
Nature of Position: Shift times are variable. Availability Monday to Friday required as well as weekend availability may be required.
What You’ll Do
As a Truck Driver for Aquatrans at our Port Hardy site, this position will be required operate a tractor-trailer vehicle to transport goods and materials on site or as otherwise directed. The number of hours you will work is subject to regulation and can involve weekend work and overtime.
You will:
-Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and regulations
-Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and the load, ensuring safety and roadworthiness, and maintaining proper logs of working hours and of vehicle service repair status
-Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver’s hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions
-Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals for loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is in good working order
-Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
-Record and maintain required documentation including but not limited to driver logbook, bills of lading, inspection logs, delivery receipts, etc. by manual or electronic means
-Move trailers on site as directed, unloading trailers, and ensuring trailers are clean (inspecting and cleaning as required)
-Regular and repeated lifting, bending, twisting, pulling and walking throughout the day
Qualifications & Experience:
