THE OPPORTUNITY
Western Forest Products is looking for a Roads Foreman based in Holberg, BC on Northern Vancouver Island.
What You’ll Do: The Roads Foreman is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the overall road construction and maintenance process to ensure production targets are achieved. In addition to the daily supervision of the hourly (union) employees and contractors, a significant portion of the role is ensuring sound business practices and compliance with applicable laws and regulations, resulting in improved safety and environmental performance.
Who You Are: Ideal candidates have 5-7 years in forestry operations in increasingly responsible roles such as a Road Foreman/Supervisor or Forestry Planner. You bring strong knowledge of road building processes, are a people leader (experience managing both unionized and contractors is an asset), and you have the ability to manage the business/administrative components involved in the role.
Work Environment: This position is based at our operations in Holberg, BC. There is company housing available in Holberg and relocation assistance is available.

Education and Experience
-5 - 7 years of experience in Forestry Operations in increasingly responsible roles;
-University Degree in Forestry or Business is an assets
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
-Knowledge of logging processes;
-Knowledge of blasting operations is considered an asset;
-Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills required
-Experience managing both unionized employees and contractors is an asset;
-Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and logical thinking skills;
-Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new computer programs;
-Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset.
