Careers in Caring - Information Sessions

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays

Careers in Caring is an exciting 12-week hybrid skills training employment program for Campbell River & the North Island designed to help young people prepare and launch a career in healthcare, community social services or early childhood education – aka the “Care Economy”. 

  • Careers in Caring offers:
    • Employability Skills for Success
    • Career planning and job search
    • Entry level certificates 
    • Connections to employers, training and work experience
    • Training allowance equivalent to min. wage (based on participation)
    • A laptop (if needed) to use during and keep after completing the program
  • Eligibility: Youth/young adults - ages of 16 – 29 – Not in Education, Employment or Training or can be precariously employed (defined as casual, variable hours, part-time or wages insufficient to meet financial living needs) and legally able to work in BC/Canada (will need to present SIN ID)
  • Information Sessions:
    • Attend virtually or in-person at our Campbell River location (920 Alder street)
    • Info Session Schedule:
      • Tuesday - Sept 12, 19, 26 @ 1-2 pm
      • Wednesday - Sept 13 & 20  @ 10 - 11 am
      • Thursday - Sept 7, 14, 21 @ 1-2 pm
  • Cohort 2 starts October 2, 2023 and completes on December 22, 2023

Join Careers in Caring and representatives from the Island Health Recruitment team online for this informative virtual session on:

Tuesday, September 26th from 10 am to 12:30 pm 

We'll be talking about:

  • Career pathways to becoming a Community Healthcare Assistant, or to working in Mental Health & Outreach
  • Island Health workplace culture & values, and the many benefits of joining their team
  • Learning more about jobs that are currently available in Food Services or Environmental Services & Laundry, and finding out how to apply for them
