As a family owned company founded in 1971 in the scrap metal recycling industry, Amix has since expanded into a wide range of services, including marine salvage, marine projects, marine towing and barging, concrete sales and steel distribution. The Amix Group consists of six companies providing specialized and quality service. These companies include Amix Marine Projects, Amix Marine Service, Amix Marine Salvage, Western Concrete, Amix Steel and Surplus and Amix Recycling.
Job Summary:
Based in Campbell River, the Mechanic is required to service working equipment at our maintenance facility in Campbell River as well as equipment located on our tugs and barges along the north coast. The role is a full-time permanent position. This role offers a 7 day on 7 day off shift, working 12 hour days for the first 6 and an 8 hour day for the last day of the schedule. This role requires a combination of skill and tenacity to achieve results, occasionally in remote and sometimes austere conditions.
Responsibilities and Requirements(include but are not limited to):
-Perform planned preventative maintenance activities and repairs on all types of heavy equipment.
-Perform Running Maintenance repairs on various types of heavy equipment.
-Rotate through shop and field assignments as required.
-Perform large component replacements.
-Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed and equipment deficiencies.
-Participate in the development of, and the ability to follow maintenance procedures and instructions.
-Participate in safety programs and adhere to site safety standards.
-Ability to travel out of town to work for up to a week at a time.
-Safely operate company provided equipment.
-Troubleshooting of engine, hydraulic, electrical, braking and powertrain systems.
-Operating Heavy Equipment when required.

Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician or Heavy Duty Mechanic
A Valid Driver's License
Able to work at heights
Able to work within confined spaces
Physically Fit with the ability to climb ladders and work over or near water
Additional Preferences:
-Valid safety certificates (first aid, confined space, man lift, forklift, telehandler, fall arrest) considered an asset.
-Good communication and organizational skills
-Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
-Strong general repair skills
-Strong mechanical aptitude & technical skills
-Strong personal commitment to safety and the well-being of coworkers
-Experience with Maintenance Tracking Software and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
-Experience with large off-road Heavy Equipment (Manitowoc 4600 Cranes & Support equipment, loaders, excavators, generators, tug boats and small ancillary equipment).
-Experience operating heavy equipment.
