Reporting to the Surface Superintendent, the Surface Supervisor will supervise a crew of
equipment operators in support of surface operations.
More specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
• Promote awareness and comply with site standards and procedures in SHEC,
• Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the
department, site and company standards,
• Demonstrates leadership in SHEC through personal behaviors and conversations,
• Report all SHEC incidents and aid in investigations where required,
• Coach, mentor and direct activities of surface personnel:
o ensure surface personnel are knowledgeable, understand and implement
company policies, standard operating procedure, and the Life Saving Rules,
o attend planning and scheduling meetings regarding work strategies,
o build strong working teams enhancing employee ownership and value differences,
o administer and work within CBA,
• Maintain an accurate record of daily activities,
• Review ore haul and material handling to reduce delays and improve operations,
• Manage snow clearance on site and main road,
• Support other departments as required,
• Report KPIs daily to surface management
Role Description:
• Hold morning safety Tool Box talks with crew,
• Manage surface crew to ensure ore is efficiently delivered to the mill,
• Ensure surface operators are following the daily plan and any safety protocol,
• Review equipment inspection sheets,
• Prioritize requests from other departments,
• Work in conjunction with temporary supervisors during construction periods
• Create and review JHA’s for high risk or non-routine tasks
Qualifications & Experience:
Requirements:
• Must have or be willing to obtain a BC Mine Supervisor Ticket
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
• Experience with Mining/Construction Operations
• Experience with Heavy Equipment
• Must have an understanding of construction drawings and their implementation
• Must be able to work with surveyors, engineers, and QA/QC personnel
• Class 5 vehicle licence
