The City of Campbell River is seeking an experienced Mechanic (Fleet Services Technician) to join our team. In this permanent full-time position, as part of the fleet services team, you will perform a wide variety of skilled tasks involved in the preventative maintenance and repair of the City’s fleet of vehicles and equipment, including:
- mechanical work on specialized municipal or aviation support equipment,
- welding and fabrication for the City,
- the work may be performed in both the shop and the field.
Please note: This position may be required to work at multiple locations, including Dogwood Operations and the Airport. Should the federal government COVID-19 vaccine mandate imposed by Transport Canada be reinstated for worksites under their jurisdiction (Airport), the successful applicant will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their continued employment with the City.
Qualifications & Experience:
To complement your ITA Certification as Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic, Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic or Automotive Service Technician or equivalent, you are also required to have:
- A valid Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Endorsement with a clean driver’s abstract
- Minimum five (5) years recent and related experience as a journeyman mechanic
- Welding and fabrication experience preferably in construction and mechanical equipment
