General Description:
Mechanics report to the Engineering Manager and will be located in Port Hardy, BC. At Badinotti, the Mechanics repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty equipment, stationary equipment, and marine vessels. The Mechanics work variable shiNs and may require travel to remote locations.
Key Accountabilities:
• Maintain equipment to company and manufactures standards
• Provide maintenance leadership to operators and staff
• Performs all maintenance activities in safest manner possible.
• Perform maintenance in efficient time frame in parameters of preventative maintenance program.
• Use critical thinking abilities to perform repairs in line with company maintenance planning and production needs.
• Assists in developing company maintenance plan.
• Plan work tasks and project accordingly.
• Maintains complete records of maintenance activities.
• Represents company in professional manner at all times.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Perform mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, and related marine equipment and systems using schematic charts and technical manuals.
• Follows preventive maintenance program for marine engines and related marine research equipment.
• Tests marine engines and equipment to determine need for repairs or adjustments.
• Repairs and maintains hydraulic equipment and control valves.
• Sets up new equipment and performs commissioning activities.
• Provides procurement officer with purchases lists and bill of material/parts supplies.
• Maintains and repairs Mobile equipment including large and midsize forklifts.
• Maintains Lattice and gantry cranes.
• Diagnosing faults or malfunctions of all equipment.
• Test equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturer’s specifications and tolerances.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
• Supervises apprentices, mechanics, work product.
• Operate specialty and hand equipment during maintenance activities.
• Complete work orders in computerized maintenance management system.
• When possible, provide failure analysis of equipment parts.
• Train operators in basic maintenance fundamentals of equipment to prolong life of equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Heavy Duty Technician- Interprovincial Red Seal or 4th year Apprentice
• Marine Service Technician
• Marine Mechanical Technician, Interprovincial Red Seal or 4th Year Apprentice
• Millwright Interprovincial Red Seal
• Diesel Engine Mechanic
