The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant based in Campbell River, BC.
What You’ll Do: The Assistant Accountant will provide accounting and finance support for the Operation and will serve as an integral part of the accounting team providing accurate, concise, and effective financial processing and reporting.
Who You Are: This is a valuable growth opportunity for a CPA candidate to work alongside an experienced accounting team in the sustainable and ever-evolving forestry sector. You will come with 1-3 years of working accounting experience and are highly comfortable with using MS Excel and various ERP systems. The ideal candidate is organized, able to prioritize various tasks, and capable of building strong relationships with the operations team.
Work Environment: This role will be preformed in person at the Campbell River Office.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of Month-end Journal entries;
- Balance sheet reconciliations;
- Weekly and monthly reporting;
- Work directly with operational and finance personnel across the business;
- Contractor payments and advances through LIMS;
- Prepare ad hoc reports for management as needed;
- Support the Division Controller with tracking performance of various Capital projects, KPI’s, and - optimization analysis;
- Provide vacation or backup relief for as required; and
- Assist the Finance Department with other duties as required.

Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business, Economics and/or related area;
- 1-3 years of work experience in an accounting or finance department
- Enrolment in, or completion of the CPA designation program would be considered an asset.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Solid working knowledge of MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word); Detail focused with strong organization skills;
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and prioritize tasks;
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization; and
- Demonstrates knowledge of full cycle accounting.
