VICE-PRINCIPAL
Alert Bay Elementary School
School District 85 (Vancouver Island North) invites applications for the position of Vice-Principal of Alert Bay Elementary School, Alert Bay, B.C., effective August 1, 2022, for the 2022-23 school year, with a possible one year extension. This is an ideal opportunity for teachers interested in moving into administration to be mentored and supported by an offsite Principal. Enrollment for the upcoming school year is predicted to be 32 students in Grades K-7. The Vice-Principal will be an energetic educator who inspires by example, encouraging innovation and building on the existing strengths of the school and community.
Alert Bay Elementary School is located in the beautiful, traditional territory of the ‘Namgis First Nation, on Cormorant Island, in the Village of Alert Bay and is serviced by BC Ferries. The community is surrounded by world class Indigenous history, ecotourism, water activities, nature trails and is home to approximately 1200 residents of both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous descent. The community is known globally for its Indigenous cultural activities and celebrations. The school fosters a family atmosphere where staff, students, and parents feel a sense of belonging and respect.
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications:
• Holds a BC Teacher’s Certificate of Qualification
• Demonstrated successful K-7 teaching experience
• Completion of, or evidence of enrollment in, a Master’s of Education Degree
