North Island Community Services is hiring 1 SUMMER Camp Coordinator and 2 SUMMER Camp Leaders- 1 Senior Leader and 1 Junior Leader. With the support of NICSS and a designated Summer Day Camp Working Group, the successful applicants will work as a team to deliver a high quality, fun, summer day camp experience to the participants.
Summer Camp Coordinator (8 weeks)
Wage: $21/hr
Reporting to the Summer Day Camp Working Group the Coordinator will assist with planning, leading and evaluating Summer Day Camp for children aged 5-10 years of age (must have completed Kindergarten). The Coordinator is expected to provide the day-to-day operations and hands on leadership of various activities involved in the program. These responsibilities will include liaising with community partners to organize activities; developing and delivering quality recreation programs and activities; direct supervision, leadership and safety of participants.; adhering to and adjusting the schedules as appropriate; providing written report; monitoring budgets; assisting guest facilitators; providing direction and supervision to Camp Leaders and other duties as required.
Experience: The successful applicant will have previous experience with recreation programs for children, including proven supervision, leadership and mentorship skills. Current First Aid (Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid with Emergency Childcare First Aid with CPR B or C is required). A criminal record check is also required.
Anticipated Start Date: June 27, 2022 Hours: Monday- Friday 9-4 (35 hours/week)
Camp Leader I (Senior) (8 weeks)
Wage: $19/hr
Senior Day Camp Leader will report to the Summer Day Camp Working Group and will receive direction and mentorship from the Summer Camp Coordinator. Camp Leaders will provide logistical support to the Coordinator and will assist with supervision of camp activies for children aged 5-10 years of age. Responsibilities include ordering supplies; director supervision and safety of participants; assisting in the delivery of quality recreation programs and activities; assisting guest facilitators and other duties as required.
Experience: The successful applicant will have previous experience working or volunteering with recreation programs for children. Current First Aid (Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid with Emergency Childcare First Aid with CPR B or C is required). A criminal record check is also required.
Camp Leader II (Junior) (8 weeks)
Wage: $17/hr
Junior Day Camp Leader will report to the Summer Day Camp Working Group and will receive direction and mentorship from the Summer Camp Coordinator. The Junior Leader will assist with supervision of camp activities. Responsibilities will include cleaning and maintenance of the space, equipment and supplies; direct supervision and safety of participants; assisting in the delivery of quality recreation programs; assisting guest facilitators and other duties as required.
The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, clear communication skills, and the willingness to learn and mentor young children in active play and recreation. Current First Aid (Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid with Emergency Childcare First Aid with CPR B or C is an asset but NOT required). A criminal record check is also required.
Anticipated Start Date for CAMP Leader Positions: June 29, 2022
Hours: Monday- Friday 8:45-4:15 (37.5 hours/week)
