Each working day, your day will start with printing your manifest from our website www.islandlinkbus.com . Details of the day will be posted and emailed for you to follow. Become familiar with your day, stops to be made, special requests noted and know your number of passengers each trip.
You are to pre-trip your vehicle thoroughly and ensure your vehicle and all papers are in order for the day.
Your manifest will dictate how your day will go.
Each trip, you will be meeting and greeting reserved passengers on your manifest and selling vacant seats to those unreserved passengers. There is cash handling involved.
You are expected to drive the speed limit as the schedule is based on the speed limit, there is no need to speed.
Upon arrival in Departure Bay, ensure all passengers have their luggage and belongings and ensure no items have been left behind.
On your next trip, you start again to board your passengers as noted on your manifest and if space is available, cash sales are welcome. From Departure Bay, you drop off the passengers as needed and finish your trip by again ensuring no items have been left behind and passengers all have their baggage.
At the end of your day, you will fuel and clean the vehicle. We operate clean buses. Our drivers take pride in having clean buses. At the end of your working day the bus is washed, swept, cleared of head grime on the windows and wipe down hard surfaces. To finish our day, the bus is sprayed with Lysol, the doors shut and locked.
Once home, you are to again go to your computer and report your day’s events. This task will take 5 to 10 minutes if you have good notes. You will enter your bus details and passenger details and expenses for the day. This is to be done prior to midnight each working day.
Our drivers in Campbell River operate 4 days on then 4 days off. We have short days and long days and depending on the position given you will have either 7 hour days or 11 hour days in Campbell River.
The starting rate of pay will be $237.50 per 11-hour day and will increase to $250 following your probation period of 3 months.
Qualifications & Experience:
We are looking for experienced drivers with defensive driver skills and a personable personality.
Those drivers must have experience with:
- The general public
- Cash handling
- Conflict resolution
- Computers/printers
- Cellular telephone
We will ask for a current driver’s abstract and a criminal record check as you are dealing with young and elderly passengers.
