-Intercoastal Tug & Barge is a contractor for the aquaculture industry. We are seeking a qualified captain to operate a tug and barge in farm sites and perform a variety of tasks, but not limited to: operate a fixed boom crane to load/unload freight, mort fish, and backhaul, remove and install small nets. Also tow sheds, circles or other farm equipment.
A time of training on the job will acquaint the employee with the duties.
Drugs and alcohol are prohibited while on the vessel or at job sites.
The work schedule is irregular, but steady employment.
The employee must be available at times on a few days notice and be able to go overnight for several days.
Qualifications & Experience:
This position seeks a qualified captain to operate a tug & barge in coastal waters to service fish farms in the Broughton/Port Hardy area.
-Must be an experienced with aquaculture farm knowledge
- Applicants are required to have 60 ton ticket, be able to maneuver a tug and barge in and around docks proficiently.
-Experience with running a small crane preferred. Willing to acquire crane operator’s certification. (short course)
- Marine Radio licence and a Med A1 ticket
-Able to fix minor mechanical equipment and do oil changes.
-Live in Courtenay-Port Hardy area or willing to relocate.
-Physical strength and agility a must.
