Details:
North Island Crisis and Counselling Centre Society is seeking an individual to fill the position of Early Years Family Navigator. The Early Years Navigator will identify and connect with families within the region and will work within a family-centred practice model. The Family Navigator will provide one-on-one advocacy, resources, and education for families with young children. The navigator will assist families to address questions, and to support access community, provincial and federal services. Family Navigator will create relationships built on trust and a mutual desire to identify and access services that will best serve children and families, using a culturally sensitive, family-centered approach. There is no one-size-fits-all approach.
Program Goals:
• To empower families to create stronger family bonds;
• To ensure culturally appropriate services are provided to all Families;
• Collaborate with local social services agencies, human service organizations and First Nation Bands to enhance and support existing programs and services.
• Support and assist families to access supports, resources and services within the Mt Waddington Region
Qualifications & Experience:
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
• Communicates clearly both orally and in writing, using good interpersonal skills
• Well-developed time, planning and organizational abilities
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of early child development
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
• Computer literacy
• Keen understanding of family centered practice, collaboration and community outreach
Preferred Qualifications and/or Experience:
• Specific training in facilitation, early intervention principles and techniques
• Demonstrated skill in applying a family-centered, strength-based approach when working with families of children and youth.
• Education and training in health or human services, child development, and / or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience working in an outreach capacity.
- Terms of Employment
- Permanent position, 15 hours per week;
- Valid BC Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle equipped with winter tires Oct 1 – Mar 31;
- Clean criminal record check;
- Salary based on qualifications and experience
