The District Cruising Specialist provides technical expertise and conducts detailed analysis of cruise plans and appraisal submissions, including field evaluations, in support of natural resource decision-making. As a subject matter specialist, they also provide technical advice to other resource technologists, both internal and external to government – and supports the technical delivery of other program areas including waste and residue, scaling, tenure administration, and forest stewardship in both the field and office environments.

Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications for this role include:
• Degree, diploma, or equivalent in a natural resource field.
• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or equivalent with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP).
• Recent experience (within last 3 years) performing technical forestry-related duties.
• Recent experience (within last 5 years) working with key timber pricing policies and procedures, i.e. Timber Cruising Manual; Cruise Compilation Manual; Provincial Logging Residue and Waste Measurement Procedure Manual; and/or Coast Appraisal Manual.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence.
