North Island College is seeking a qualified instructor for the Automotive Service Technician program at our Campbell River Campus.
Responsibilities include -instructing Foundation and Apprenticeship programming as per institutional and provincial outcomes and standards.
Instruction encompasses comprehensive theory and technical training specific to AST.
Other responsibilities include curriculum development. lesson planning, tool and equipment maintenance, participating in recruitment initiatives, and liaison with regional employers.
Regular
Mon-Fri – 30 hrs per week
Hours: Dependent on student enrolment
Please note that instruction may be scheduled following and afternoon -evening model
Qualifications & Experience:
Journeyperson Interprovincial Qualification (Red Seal) in Automotive Service Technician;
- Certificate of Apprenticeship;
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a journeyperson working in all aspects of Automotive Service field;
- Experience instructing adults in a post-secondary environment;
- Completion of the Provincial Instructors Diploma program.
- Familiarity with the Automotive Service Technician program outlines;
- Experience setting up training programs;
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated excellent instructional abilities, using creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning, including the use of instructional technologies;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines;
- Proficiency with MS Office software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, the internet and web-based applications;
- A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
