Details:
What do you get when you mix an artisan, crafter, and foodie with quick hands in a fun and family-oriented atmosphere? The next addition to the Tilly’s team! We are looking to add a Food Packaging Worker to our small but growing team.
Do you love variety in your day? How about feeling like you are actually contributing to the success of a local business, not just another cog?
Our small family run business has been around 1989. We are poised for rapid growth this year with distribution across Canada and export to the US. This position will start out with lots of variety. Then as the company grows and more employees are hired, more specialization will begin to form.
What would you do?
• Wash your hands, don a stylish (or not) hairnet and apron, and work at various stations mixing recipes and adding ingredients to bags by weighing and/or scooping.
• Select and package your lovely handiworks into boxes to ship off to stores and to all the amazing Tilly’s fans ordering from our website.
• Help keep workstations and our production facility sparkly clean and food safe.
• Putting your organizational skills to work keeping stock levels maintained and supplies in their place.
• Receiving incoming inventory and recording lot code information in the computer.
• … and all the other little things to that go into working with a small family-run business (we all wear lots of hats – under our hairnets of course!) including having fun while we work quickly.
What are the requirements?
Well, pride in a job well done is very important and of course, being a food business, clean and sanitary habits are critical; a valid FoodSafe certificate is required. Every bag of product must taste the same as all the others so consistent attention to detail is needed. The orders keep coming so we work pretty quickly to keep up, for which hand-eye coordination and a reasonable physical stamina will help with that. As a small business we all pitch in where needed so a willingness to help will mean you’ll fit right in!
NOTE: Not absolutely necessary but we are hoping to offer this opportunity to someone who qualifies for the WorkBC Wage Subsidy program. Please contact an Employment Counsellor at NIEFS for more information if you are not already working with them.
