THE OPPORTUNITY
Western Forest Products is looking for a Boom Boat Operator to join our Englewood Forest Operation team in Woss, BC.
This is a great job opportunity for locals to Port McNeil and surrounding areas or anyone that is interested in relocating to Northern Vancouver Island.
The ideal candidate is someone that has worked previously as a Boom Boat Operator in the forestry industry. However, training can be provided to those that have experience in a similar working environment, have a good attitude and are able to quickly learn new skills.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Day shifts (8-10 hours per day), Monday to Friday - some weekends may be required.
- Unionized USW positions with a wage rate of $33.63

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strip boomstick booms, and sort boomsticks (good, culls or shorts)
- Inspect gear – remove gear that is worn and place on appropriate float for removal
- Operate a boom boat to sort bundles by sort identification tags or paint into the appropriate alleys
- Operate a boom boat to feed loose logs to the bundler
- Swifter booms prior to towing destination
- Cut down booms to be re-sorted
Qualifications & Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a Boom Boat Operator preferred
- BC coastal logging experience preferred
- Candidates should have a strong work ethic with a commitment to safety
- Preference will be given to applicants with an OFA Level 3 Ticket
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision
