We are looking for an awesome Maintenance Worker (MW) for the best resort ever! The MW provides daily maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to the resort’s facilities and equipment. This job suits a highly motivated, self-directed, individual who completes quality work in a timely fashion. He or she is a perfectionist and exhibits an enormous amount of pride in his or her work. The Maintenance Worker:
• Organizes, prioritizes jobs/tasks and “gets things done” in a timely manner
• Leads, mentors, and coordinates any maintenance helper-employees (this includes any training/certifications needed to perform the job)
• Performs landscaping, gardening, irrigation, and ground care activities (gardening and landscaping are priorities)
• Strong desire to develop new skills in his or her job (maintenance, construction, plumbing, irrigation, pumps, well systems, weed control, health and safety, for example)
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to resort buildings, facilities and equipment
• Installs, inspects, and repairs irrigation systems when needed
• Monitors, maintains, and repairs the sceptic system when needed
• Monitors, maintains, and treats water systems (ie tests drinking water, chlorination, sewage, drain fields) and takes immediate steps to correct any problems or issues as per health regulations
• Maintains cleanliness around the resort (ie removes garbage and debris) and ensures guests are respectful of property
• Ensures that washrooms, laundry room, sheds and other areas are kept in working order
• Assists the Resort Manager (when needed) with the sourcing and coordinating of any outside contractors/tradespeople
• Inspects playground area, equipment, and other recreational amenities to ensure everything is in good condition – and makes minor repairs as needed
• Ensures all resort roads and public access routes are free of hazards/plowed
• Operates, maintains, and repairs resort vehicles, equipment and tools
• Follows all safety procedures, protocols, and wears the required personal protective equipment at all times—and ensures the same of all maintenance helper-employees under his or her charge
• Strictly adheres to all WorkSafe regulations and safe work practices
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Resort Manager
Qualifications & Experience:
• Post-secondary education/training in construction and landscaping is an asset
• High school graduation is preferred
• Leading, supervising and mentoring employees is an asset
• Several years of maintenance resort experience is strongly preferred
• Water Operator’s ticket - definite asset
• Knowledge of pumps and water filtration/treatment systems – strong asset
• Knowledge of sceptic fields and water wells
• Flexible to work a variety of hrs to meet operational needs (evenings, weekends, and stat holidays)
• Flexible schedule/availability to respond to after hours emergencies
• Able to travel locally or regionally if requested (ie for meetings or training purposes)
• Clear vulnerable criminal record check (now known as Police Information Check)
• First Aid – or willing to obtain
• WHMIS – or willing to obtain
• A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle – preferred
• Strong desire to develop any needed skills and abilities to perform the tasks of the job
