StoneCroft is seeking a junior to intermediate Civil Technologist or Structural Design/ Drafting Technician on a full-time permanent basis, to be a key member of our dynamic team of professional and technical staff. The successful candidate would be mentored by professional engineers, senior technologists and drafters, and responsibilities would grow with experience and ability. StoneCroft will provide training and mentoring in all facets of the job as we truly believe in setting our staff up for success. This position will be based out of our Campbell River office.
Primary responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
• Structural design/ drafting - Bridges in steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and aluminum using AutoCAD, Revit,
and SketchUp.
• Design / drafting – conceptual and detailed designs for resource roads, bridges and other infrastructure using
AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Preparing technical reports and analysis, assisting with structural design and calculations
• Working collaboratively as part of a team of professionals, technologists and drafters
Depending on the successful candidate’s background and ability, (non-mandatory) responsibilities may include:
• Hydrology and hydraulic analysis for stream crossing structures
• Site surveys using a total station and RTK GPS
• Bridge and structure inspections and load ratings
• Construction supervision, surveying and project management
• Occasional field work in rugged wilderness terrain and inclement weather, requiring travel to remote job sites
Qualifications & Experience:
• A recognized diploma in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a diploma or certificate in Structural Drafting/ Design, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• A great attitude and attention to detail is essential
• Excellent client service, interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Excellent oral and written communication in English
• A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence (or equivalent)
• Proficiency in structural design/ drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/ or AutoCAD
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Additional qualifications and experience could include:
• 2 or more years of experience in structural drafting and design related to the primary responsibilities would be considered an asset.
• Registered or eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with ASTTBC would be considered an asset.
• Experience in engineering or construction in the civil, forest or natural resource sectors, particularly in coastal BC would be considered an asset.
• Physically fit, able and willing to safely perform occasional field work would be considered an asset.
